Our History & Spiritual Journey
The roots of ISKCON Chandigarh trace back to October 1976 when Srila Prabhupāda sanctified the city with his personal visit. Staying at the residence of Sri P.L. Sethi, Prabhupāda inspired initial followers with morning walks at Sukhna Lake and profound discourses, stating that Chandigarh’s cultured populace would naturally appreciate Krishna consciousness.
Through decades of dedicated service by resident monks and congregation devotees, land was secured on Dakshin Marg in Sector 36-B. The grand marble temple with its carved shikharas, beautiful landscaped gardens, Govinda's restaurant, gift shop, and guest house grew into one of Chandigarh’s most revered spiritual and cultural landmarks.
In October 2026, marking exactly fifty years since Prabhupāda’s holy visit, the temple reached its Golden Jubilee milestone, inaugurating the magnificent new sanctum of Sri Sri Sita Ram Laxman Hanuman.
